Q: What is ROOT?
A: ROOT is admin account of your phone, which has more abilities than normal user but it has risk either. The way to get ROOT access is different due to different phone module. You'd better search how to root your phone on web, and backup your important data before do it.
Q: What is the difference between APP2SD and LINK2SD?
A: APP2SD here means system default function to move app from internal space to a a mapping folder located on SD card. When launching the app, system will call files directly on the mapping folder.
LINK2SD does not change app installation. But move installed files to SD card and replace them with link files. When launching the app, system will call file with orignal path, but will be redirected to files on SD card by link files. So LINK2SD is a way to "cheat" system to save internal memory space. :P
Q: Why I can not move app?
A: Please confirm the following things: 1. You have got ROOT access; 2. USB debugging is enabled (In Settings->Application->Developemnt->USB debugging); If you still have problem, please contact droidsail@gmail.com, we will try to get more info and fix that issue.
Q: How to move upgrade version of system app to SD card?
A: Generally, upgrade version of system app is not allowed to be moved to SD card. Both upgrade version and the orignal/system version take space (twice!!!) in phone memory! But now, since we have "Droidsail App Remover", it is possible to remove system version and move upgrade version to SD card.
To move upgrade version of system app to SD card, you need do following steps:
(ATTENTION: This operatin is high risk, some app is not suitable for this. It may cause serious problem to your device, make sure you know what you are doing!)
1. Launch "Droidsail App Remover", find target app in "installed app" page, click it and seletc backup;
2. Remove the upgrade version app by click it and select "remove";
3. Find target app in "system app" page (flip right), click it and select "remove" (it will generate backup file for system app automatically);
4. Find backup file of target app in "backup app" page (flip left), click it and select install;
5. Back to "Droidsail App2SD", move target app to SD card now!
Q: I used to move app to SD before, but can not move now.
A: Please check follow thing to see if there is any problem:
1)SD card is mounted and work properly;
2)USB debugging is enabled (In Settings->Application->Developemnt->USB debugging);
3)Check if the app has ROOT access;
4)Sometimes the app2sd function failed is because there is not enough space, even it shows there is still several MB left, but it is for system usage;
5)Try to run SuperUser app and remove item of "Droidsail Super App2SD" item, then run the app again to get ROOT access;
6)Sometimes, ROOT access settings is modified by some reason, uninstall and then install ROOT manager app(SuperUser) may solve the problem.;
Q: What apps should not be moved to SD card?
A: If you are using some desktop widget, wallpaper, clock/alarm,input method, those apps are not recommended to be moved to SD card.
Q: I have already set install location to SD card. Why some app still installed in internal memory?
A: Some apps are marked as "InternalOnly", and the system will still install it to internal memory in this case. But you can still move most of these apps to SD card by our "Super App2SD" (only very few special app can not be moved).
Q: Apps can not move to SD card with Samsung phone?
A: For Samsung phone, the hardware design is: There are two internal memory device, one is for system, the other is for internal SD (/mnt/sdcard/external_sd). And for APP2SD function, Samsung’s design is just move app from system memory to internal SD (not external SD). So our suggestion is: Move those backup data to external SD card, and leave more space of internal SD card for APP2SD function.
Q: App icon (on home/desktop) lost after move app to SD card and reboot?
A: If some app has icon on home/desktop, the icon will take some time to show image and work as normal, because it takes time for system to load apps on SD card after reboot.
There are another case, the home/desktop widget may work abnormal if certain app is moved to SD card. User can move those apps back to phone and add a new home/desktop widget again to solve this problem.
Q: How to initialize Link2SD feature?
A: (Please create the additional partition and format it to EXT2 or EXT3 by self, e.g. on a PC.)
User need to initialize the "Link2SD" feature. Launch the app, click target app to be linked in list and select "Link to SD". If not initialized, the app will automatically guide the user to initialize.
The first step is to choose the SD card partition. The app will list all available SD cards and partitions, for example, the second partition on the first external SD card will be called SD card 1, Partition 2. Please select additional partition, do not select the default FAT32 partition.
The second step is to select the partition format. (We also provide an "AUTO" option, user can try AUTO if other specified format does not work.)
The third step is to apply settings, and the app will prompt the user to reboot to take effect. After reboot, if the initialization is successful, click target app and select "Link to SD" again, you will see linking dialog. But if failed, the app will show initialization dialog again, please check the partition and format and try above steps again.
